How to Prepare Your Print-ready Artwork

Some simple advise to ensure a speedy and hassle-free service

In addition to reading the information below we highly recommend downloading our free templates as they are a valuable visual aid to the terms mentioned here. They also act as a scaled, fully-funtional guide that you can use and refer to throughout the process of creating your print-ready artwork.

File Type
The maximum file size for your uploads is 100MB. The best format to send your artwork in is PDF. Almost all mainstream graphics and design packages allow you to save your work in this format. Failing this, you can send it to us as a JPEG. Downloadable freeware programs such as DeskPDF and AcroPDF allow you to print a PDF file from most other programs.

Colours
All of our printing facilities use CMYK values, not RGB. As such you will need to ensure that all work you send us is made up of CMYK values, otherwise there will be a variation in the actual print colours.

Resolution
For a professional print quality we require all work to be set at a minimum of 300dpi resolution.

Main Visual Area
Any text or important details on your artwork should be at least 5mm from the cutting edge and converted to curves or paths and all layers must be flattened before finalizing your print-ready PDF. This is an inner border or main visual area.

Bleed
There must be a minimum of 3mm bleed on all artwork and pages. Bleed is additional background graphic or imagery, which increases the final size of your document by 3mm at each edge (e.g. an A4 page is 210 x 297mm, with the bleed it will become 216 x 303mm). This bleed or extra background is then trimmed off at the final stages to create a perfect, edge-to-edge print. Without the bleed your final product could be compromised, as the guillotines and automatic cutting machines have a tolerance of approx 1mm. This could result in 1mm loss of your print or 1mm gain of white around the edges.
